I have to say I'm very impressed with the new segmentation process but
I'm having some trouble with it. Namely, three different PC systems
had trouble producing DARTEL imported images: 2 had out of memory
messages and 1 crashed out of MATLAB. I'm pretty sure this only
happens when I include DARTEL impoorted as an output since Native
Space itself is fine. Unfortunately, I cannot import the images using
the "traditional" method since this new method produces *_seg8.mat and
not *_seg_inv_sn and *_seg_sn. I know nothing about programming but
my reasoning suggests the problem may lie in MPRAGE sequence/big file
size. I have no idea which since SPGR files, which are about 3 or 4
times smaller than the MPRAGE (i.e. 2X MB to 4x MB vs 120MB to 160MB),
had no problems at all. Not sure how much memory one of the systems
have but two of the these three systems have less than 5GB (confirmed
1GB and 2GB physical + 3GB virtual memory in XP).
Any ideas or suggestions? Once again, the images produced by the new
segmentation method are much much better than the default method of
SPM8: I wish to utilise this!
Thank you for your attention.
Sincerely,
Dennis
N.B. Stats of the machines are different (one dual core for sure since
MATLAB is only using 50% of CPU) and all SPM were patched to 3408.
