Dear Amir,
Average reference means that the average of across channels at any
time should be 0. There is now a function in MEEGtools that allows you
to re-reference the data (just select all the EEG channels as
reference). How much difference it makes depends on the data and the
sources, but the lead-field computation presently assumes that the
data is average-referenced.
