I can see the layout of the theatre does mean the audience is unusually close
but is it just me or does it also mean there is a distinct lack of leg room?!
Even after the refurbishment I've found myself fidgeting to try and get
comfortable, and I'm not exactly tall.
I love the historical significance of the RI venue but imposing buildings can be
a turn-off for some young people who don't feel they belong there. For an
example of attempts to combat this think library v “ideas store”.
