Ha, Ken, good scheme. I'll pick on one poet and try an imitation. Once I
kicked it by writing a parody of Tranter, only to end up with a homage to
Tranter. Another time I typed out every first sentence or phrase in a New
American Digest number, throwing away the punctuation and any unimportant
capitals. I then sat it next to my tripewriter and squinted, typing up
phrases that leapt at me. With a little tweaking, it became a poem -
published in a national literary quarterly then in a book. I'm too lazy to
do that again ...
