Hi,
At Portsmouth we are holding an exhibition next year about Henry Leopold Foster Guermonprez and his natural science collection. We hold the bulk of his collecting habits from between 1880-1920 (estimates). We know that he sold and swapped his material like any other natural scientist of his era and also contributed to various papers. He also bought collections from auctions to add to his own.
Would it be possible to ask people to have look through their natural science collections to see if they have any material linked to Guermonprez? He collected all major fields of study, including herbaria and entomology. He was very good at recording locations and dates of his finds. He mainly collected in the Sussex region (mainly around Bognor Regis), but some material has come from Kent, Cornwall and London (particularly in the herbarium).
Please reply direct to me if any one knows of any links to him to save space on the email list.
Thank you in advance for any information people find,
Claire Lucas

We have installed about 9,700 new street lights – with brighter, more energy-efficient lamps – since 2004.
