Hi,
My main interest at the moment is the provision of university information to students via their mobiles. At Edinburgh, we're looking at a range of commercial products, including Ombiel's CampusM (www.ombiel.com) and Blackboard Mobile (http://www.blackboard.com/Mobile/Mobile-Platform.aspx).
Our immediate concern is to determine which mobile devices our students actually use (or plan to buy), and what services would be most useful to them. So I'd be interested to hear ideas or experiences from others.
Another option is to use a mobile skin on our campus portal (we use uportal).
We're also looking at mobile devices for some small teaching projects. One recent project, that my team implemented with EDINA and the Edinburgh College of Art, displayed historical maps on smartphones: http://www.walkingthroughtime.co.uk/.
Best wishes,
Dave.
