Professor of Media Policy. Ref 1127386
To strengthen our research, innovation and consultancy activities in 
media, we wish to appoint a Professor of Media Policy. The post-holder 
will be expected to play a leading role in the School's strategy for 
media research and delivery, particularly in the area of contemporary 
digital media policy, though additional interests in the history and 
development of broadcasting and/or print journalism policy might be 
welcome. She/he will need to work with colleagues across academic 
disciplines, work with existing expertise within the School, and 
contribute her/his own expertise as part of a successful research 
strategy. She/he is expected to contribute to a successful research 
grouping, including academic colleagues and research students, in time 
to meet the challenges and seize the opportunities offered by the 
development of MediaCity:UK. 
 
Lecturer in Online Journalism. Ref. 1127392
The school wishes to appoint a Lecturer in Online Journalism to teach on 
a range of existing programmes, to contribute to the development of new 
programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, as well as 
contribute to CPD activities with local and regional journalism 
professionals and organisations.... Though they may come from a 
traditional broadcast or print journalism background, applicants will be 
expected to have significant experience of working in a convergent 
journalism environment, and be able to teach both practical and 
theoretical aspects of online journalism. An ability to support relevant 
work experience for our students within the field of journalism would be 
an advantage and the successful candidate will be expected to liaise 
closely with a range of professional organisations.

 
Lecturer in New Media Technologies. Ref. 1127411
The school wishes to appoint a Lecturer in New Media Technologies to 
teach on a range of existing programmes, to contribute to the 
development of new programmes at both undergraduate and postgraduate 
levels, as well as contribute to CPD activities with local and regional 
media professionals and organisations. In the first instance, the 
successful candidate would be expected to teach on our existing BSc 
Media Technology and BSc Mobile and Internet Television programmes. An 
ability to contribute to other programmes such as the BSc Computer & 
Video Games, BA Television & Radio, or BA Animation would be welcome. 
The successful applicant will be expected to contribute to new 
undergraduate and postgraduate programmes currently being developed or 
in planning. Applicants will be expected to have significant experience 
of working with new digital technologies within a contemporary media 
environment. In addition to teaching the technology of digital media, 
the ability to relate technical understanding of new media technologies 
to creative content production is essential.

Lecturer in Broadcast Journalism (2 posts). Ref. 1127403
One with specialist skills in Radio, the other with specialist skills in 
Television Journalism. For the first post, the person appointed will be 
able to teach both practical and theoretical aspects of radio 
journalism. Though they may come from a traditional broadcast journalism 
background, applicants will be expected to have experience of working in 
a convergent journalism environment. An ability to support relevant work 
experience for our students within the field of journalism would be an 
advantage and the successful candidate will be expected to liaise 
closely with a range of professional organisations. The ability to teach 
more general aspects of radio studio production would be an added 
advantage.
For the second post, candidates will be experienced in television 
journalism and be able to teach both practical and theoretical aspects 
of broadcast journalism related to television. Again, though they may 
come from a traditional broadcast journalism background, applicants will 
be expected to have experience of working in a convergent journalism 
environment and be familiar with the implications of multi-platform 
working. The ability to support relevant work experience for our 
students within the field of journalism would be an advantage.
