About Film, Theatre & Television at Reading:
The Department of Film, Theatre & Television (FTT) has an international 
reputation for its research. In the recent Research Assessment Exercise 
(2008), 90% of our work was evaluated as of international or world-leading 
quality, contributing to Reading's position as one of the UK’s top 10 research-
intensive universities. Our lively and welcoming research culture supports

each others’ expertise.  Activities include informal study groups in film and TV, 
critical theory and practice-as-research for postgraduates, the annual 
Journeys Across Media (JAM) international postgraduate conference, research 
training in the Graduate School and a regular series of research seminars by 
leading experts. We offer specialist supervision in the discrete areas of film, 
theatre and television research.  We also support a variety of inter-disciplinary 
projects and the department has a strong tradition of practice as research. In 
2011 we relocate to a purpose-built facility at the heart of the Whiteknights 
campus, equipped with state-of-the-art resources and spaces for cutting-

We are offering Reading University Studentships which will provide fees for UK, 
EU and international students and will match the AHRC support in providing
