External Advisor sought for review of Creative Industries Foundation degree
(one-day only, 12 March 2010)
We are seeking an academic to take part in a one-day review event of a
Foundation degree in creative industries. The event is a collaborative audit
of the partnership between the University of East London and Redbridge
College that includes the Creative Industries Foundation degree. You will act
as external academic advisor and take part in a whole-day event on 12 March
2010. We are seeking an interested academic with HE experience in media, film
or music: practice and theory. You will be paid £150 for the day.
The Foundation degree, which began in 2008, combines academic study and
theory with hands on, practical, work-based learning. Students learn music
and media production and analysis, how to run a music or media company, how
to write and make films, how to write music for a film, how to produce an
album and how to write a business plan and market and distribute their music
or media products. From the beginning of their studies, students are involved
in the activities of two college-based companies, Last Word Records (music)
and F/X Studios (media). The Foundation Degree in Creative Industries at
Redbridge College is a new collaboration with the University of East London,
designed specifically to provide a combination of practical knowledge,
professional skills and academic theory in the creative industries.
Successful students who have completed the two-year Foundation can progress
to the University of East London to complete a BA honours degree after a
further year of study.
