Hi Martin. If you don't know of the Museum API wiki Mike started and Mia
looks after then check it out. It lists quite a few APIs and data
sources from museums and related organisations.
MOL hasn't got a collections API yet, but will join the party quite
soon. We have some other data sources, though, so it depends what your
contact is after, perhaps we can offer something. We have a cool API for
the London Archaeological Archive and Research Centre which does
actually return collections data as well as site data, and advanced
search functions will follow in due course. We also have some static
data sources and then things like events and publications available as
APIs (with structured date and geo data)
I'm not going to speak about various APIs I'm aware of because I forget
what stuff is still under wraps and what's out there for everyone, but I
will say, don't forget Europeana. The public API for that is in
development and we in the project (if I can say that) are very keen to
hook up with businesses that might want to access collections and
authorities data from 25 European countries.
All the best, Jeremy
