Please find below details of a Research Associate post at the Institute of
Work Psychology within the Management School at the University of Sheffield.
The Research Associate post is part of an EU Framework 7 funded project,
investigating Work and Life Quality in New Growth jobs (WALQING). You will
be responsible for planning, conducting and reporting two work-related
research studies. The first study will involve examining job quality in
large nationally representative data-sets of employees' experiences of work.
The second study involves case study research on how institutional
conditions and organisation strategies and practices affect the quality of
employees' work and life.
You should have a postgraduate degree (or equivalent experience) in one or
more of the following areas - Work/Occupational Psychology, Sociology of
Work and Organisations, or Economics. Ideally you will have a track-record
of applied research. Advanced quantitative statistical skills are essential.
Knowledge of research on job quality and/or institutional theory would be an
advantage, as would be experience of case study research. This post is fixed
term from 01 March 2010 to 30 September 2012.
