Dear all,
I was recently approached by Dr. Hamid Ahmadi, Director of the Research
Association for
Iranian Oral History in Berlin, to ask whether we would be interested in
purchasing his collection of 400 dvds "voices of Iran" (about 700 hours of
oral history containing interviews by political, social and cultural
activists speaking about their life and experience from 1930s to the present
day).
A list of the interviewees is available on the Institute's website at:
http://www.iranianoralhistory.de/index-2.htm
There is also a useful link there to an overview of the collection in the
Columbia University newsletter:
http://www.sipa.columbia.edu/regional/mei/MEI_newletter.pdf
The whole collection can be purchased for 7.700 euros, or parts can be
acquired for 5.000 euros (half) or 3.900 euros (a third). Individual dvds
are not available
Are any other MELCOM libraries intending to buy/have bought a set of these
DVDs, or might possibly be interested in sharing the cost?
I would be grateful for any thoughts. It seems a very interesting collection,
Looking forward to hearing from you,
Ursula
