We have just merged two small libraries into one. It took the removal
company (two chaps) about two hours to pack 1300 books into long crates
and stack them on their van. The unpacking at the other end (carried out
by three library staff) took a similar time.
On stock growth, you would have about 50 books per metre of shelving, so
you can do the arithmetic from your book budget and the LISU figure for
the average price of academic books:
http://www.lboro.ac.uk/departments/dils/lisu/pages/publications/bp.html.
Don't forget to subtract the stock you withdraw.

Catherine
The former libraries at County Hospital and Sniperley House have merged
to form a new library in the Appletree Inglewood Unit, Lanchester Road
Hospital, which opens on January 11th 2010. The email is

NB this is not to be confused with the County Durham and Tees Valley
Primary Care Library in Appleton House on the same site.

Subject: Moving calculations
Can anyone provide any calculations or figures from evidence or
experience
regarding the following:
1) how much time does it take to remove stock from the shelf during a
move
2) average book stock growth over a year
Thanks
