We are a part of a revolution... the technological one I mean. Personalised learning is coming to the forefront and learners are now choosing where and how they would like to learn to suit their personal styles. Learners are choosing to study whilst they are travelling, at home, during the night - basically anytime to suit them. They are learning via many means: books (tried and trusted!), audio and visual media, and via the internet to name some.
So, where does this leave the library service? Libraries need to evolve to become the source of all knowledge for all learners irrespective of how they choose to learn. We must look to embrace appropriate technology and provide a service beyond the traditional. Let's ditch the CD-ROMs, reduce the book stock and introduce mobile technologies, hand-held games consoles, eBooks and eReaders. Let's veer from the tried and trusted and provide the physical and virtual resources that learners demand.
Let's revolutionise libraries and provide the best library service that we can!
