Dear All,
The British Geophysical Association (BGA) wishes to ensure the
representation of UK geophysics on the Councils of the
Geological Society of London and the Royal Astronomical Society.
Deadlines for nominations are 8th January for Geological Society
and 5th February (at noon) for Royal Astronomical Society. The GeolSoc
requires a form signed by two Fellows of the GeolSoc, and the
candidate's signed statement of willingness to stand, by Friday
8th Jan, so please contact me urgently (01189 827260) if you
wish to stand and can't find two Fellows immediately to sign
your nomination paper (see below to get nomination papers).
We are also looking for new members of the BGA Committee, for
election at the AGM on 12th February. If you wish to stand
please contact me by/on ***Monday 11th January***. The BGA Committee
meets three times a year and instigates the organisation of
the annual New Advances in Geophysics meeting in February,
the Postgraduate Research in Progress meeting in September and
the Bullerwell Lecture. The AGM is in the GeolSoc Lecture
Theatre at Burlington House, Piccadilly, London, on Friday
12th February during the lunch break of the New Advances in
Geophysics meeting (exact time to be advertised, probably
about 12.30 pm).
Regards,
Sheila Peacock
BGA Secretary.
