Take a look at the films from Panamint Cinema at http://www.panamint.co.uk/
They offer three films in particular, that you may find useful: "Over Paid - Over Sexed and Over Here," a trumped-up, cutesy title for a DVD with two films. The intriguing one is "A Welcome to Britain" which features a segment on Black troops in the UK.
Also, "We Forget About Germany" includes "West Indies Calling" about Caribbean troops fighting the good fight, with Una Marson, Learie Constantine and others.
For a slightly differenr spin, see Roundabout. Vol. 1 which examines Britishness for "the other" in kind of travelogue.

At a conference I attended last year a recent short film by John Sealey was
shown which might be of interest, reflecting on 'blackness in Europe' during
World War 2. As far as I'm aware John is an amateur film-maker, but it's an
interesting, powerful, and at times amusing reflection on these themes.
Whilst mainly in foreign languages, the film is sub-titled. It can be found
