Current Excavation of a Chu tomb at Yancang.
The tomb probably dates to the late 4th century BC, that is, the Warring States Period. Not much is known yet, but the tomb occupant is likely to have been a ministerial-level military officer of the Kingdom of Chu. The tomb contains grave goods such as chariot devices, weapons and a cache of unearthed bamboo strips with writing on them. It is not yet known what these texts are about. But it is already encouraging to learn that we still get some texts from overseen excavation sites and not only by roundabout and illegal ways from tomb looters...
