Hello Patrice,
whilst most Roman nails are iron nails Manning's 1985 typology can also
be/is used for bronze nails. The reference is:
Manning, W. H., Catalogue of the Romano-British Iron Tools, Fittings and
Weapons in the British Museum, London, British Museum, 1985
There is more on Roman nails and nail typology in L.F.Pitts, J.K.St.Joseph
(1985) Inchtuthil. The Roman Legionary Fortress. Britannia Monograph
Series 6, p. 289-92.
Hope this helps,
Irene
