reputation for methodological development in statistics, mathematical
modelling and bioinformatics. BioSS offers a stimulating working
environment, with over 30 staff at four different locations, working on
applications in plant science, animal health and welfare, ecology &
environmental science and nutrition & human health.
We seek an enthusiastic Statistical Scientist with a strong technical
training who wishes to develop a career at the interface between
statistical and scientific research. The post-holder will work on a
range of applications from our Edinburgh office, predominantly
addressing topics in animal disease, but also issues in crop and
environmental research. These applications will motivate methodological
research to be pursued within one of our three research themes.
Applicants must be able to demonstrate a sound grasp of traditional
statistical methodologies along with awareness of modern methods and
their potential. Excellent communication skills and an aptitude for
collaborating with research scientists will be required; also an ability

applications. Applicants should have a postgraduate qualification in
statistics or with a major statistical element (PhD, or MSc/MRes with at
least two years postgraduate employment). Further experience and a
substantial record of scientific publications are required for
appointment to the higher grade.
