Renaissance North West and Museum Libraries & Archives Council have
commissioned a co-mentoring programme to develop Education and Learning
professionals working within Museums and Archives (this includes archivists
with learning responsbilities)
The co-mentoring programme uses training from the Sage Gatesheads’ award
winning REFLECT co-mentoring model. It will enable staff in museums and
archives to benefit from the skills, knowledge and experience of fellow
professionals from within the sector. Co-mentoring conversations are non-
judgmental, based on empathy and mutual respect and have the potential to
transform practice
The programme will involve:
• Recruitment of a maximum of 20 participants from museums,
archives, education professionals - January 2010
• An application process to ensure a diverse range of committed
participants
• Matching co-mentors from different areas and levels of the sector
• Training to introduce the principles and skills of co-mentoring
provided by Sage Gateshead, managers of the Reflect model in March
• Up to 6 co-mentoring sessions from February until July 2010 focused
on a shared learning agreement to direct the learning
• An additional two support phone coaching sessions with a
professional coach/mentor per participant to discuss process and progress
• A mid project participants day May in Manchester
