The 2010 Time Series Forecasting Competition
for Computationoal Intelligence
2010 IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (WCCI'10)
July 18-23, 2010, Barcelona, Spain
-------------------------------------------------------------------
=====================================================================
Join the 2010 Time Series Forecasting Competition for Computational Intelligence at the
- 2010 IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (WCCI'10) which includes the
- 2010 IEEE International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN'10))
July 18-23, 2010, Barcelona, Spain
You are invited to participate in the NNCG competition on time series forecasting with computational intelligence methods (www.neural-forecasting-competition.com) and to
submit full papers that describe your submitted algorithm and its predictions for publication at the 2010 IEEE WCCI conference (www.wcci2010.org), to be held in Barcelona, Spain in July.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Submissions to the new 2010 NN GC1 competition
-------------------------------------------------------------------
The competition data consist of 6 small datasets on transportation data (available at www.neural-forecasting-competition.com), each with 11 time series of a different time series frequency of yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly, daily, and hourly data. A competitor must submit predictions on at least one of the 6 datasets (reduced set of 11 series) to be eligible to participate. Competitors are encouraged to submit predictions on multiple datasets, and ideally all 6 datasets (a complete set of 66 series). Two of the 6 datasets are already available online, the other 4 datasets will be released on Sunday 17.01.2010.
Submissions of the predictions for all datasets are due June 14, 2010; submissions of full papers to be published in the IEEE proceedings of the 2010 WCCI conference must be received by January 31, 2010.
Please note that we have revised the competition format to better address some issues raised by sponsors and co-organisers. All those participating in the trial run of this competition in 2009, incl. the preliminary results on 2 datasets presented at the 2009 IJCNN session, are invited to submit predictions and papers again.

WCCI'10 Presentation & Publication on the new NN GC1 competition
-------------------------------------------------------------------
All those planning to submit predictions on at least one datasets, multiple datasets or even all 6 of the datasets are invited to submit full papers describing their algorithms, methodologies etc. for presentation at the 2010 IEEE International Joint Conference on Neural Networks (IJCNN'10, see www.ijcnn2009.com) conference, held together simultaneously at the 2010 IEEE World Congress on Computational Intelligence (WCCI'10). All accepted papers will be eligible for oral presentation at the conference and for publication in the conference proceedings. Authors may submit multiple abstracts for presentation (maximum one per competition, see below).
-------------------------------------------------------------------
WCCI'10 Presentations on past NN3 & NN5 competitions
-------------------------------------------------------------------
In addition we also invite participants from the past NN3 and NN4 competitions to submit abstracts and present their earlier submissions at the IJCNN'10 special session. Our aim is to provide those that have participated in previous competitions at the IJCNN'07 and WCCI'08 or ISF'07/08 and DMIN'07/08 conferences, and that were unable to attend before, with the opportunity to present their original methodology and possible extensions and revisions since then. We hope this will disseminate best practices on how to predict time series data of different time frequencies to a wider audience, in particular due to its relevance for the corresponding datasets with similar time series frequency in the 1st NN GC1.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Paper Submission
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Please follow the paper guidelines of the IEEE IJCNN'10 conference located at the official website at http://www.wcci2010.org/submission (to submit follow the link at the bottom --> IJCNN submission). Papers should describe the algorithm and methodology used to predict the time series . The title should indicate the method used and contain the name of the competition (e.g. 'NN3', ‘NN5’ or 'NN GC1' in the title). Papers will be peer-reviewed for relevance, originality, significance, clarity and technical quality. The deadline for submission is January 31st, 2010.
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Special Session Presentations
-------------------------------------------------------------------
Presentations are restricted to NN3, NN5 and NN GC1 competition participants that have either submitted predictions on the NN3 or NN5 datasets in the past, or that will submit predictions for the NN GC1 by the deadline, and that have submitted full papers for review. Presentations held in the past at other NN3, NN5 or NN GC conference sessions (e.g. ISF'08 and DMIN'08) would allow you to also present at IJCNN'10 if the corresponding paper has not been published before (or is sufficiently extended in the experiments or method). In order to present at the NN GC1 competition session and to have your paper published those accepted must register for the conference.
