I'm doing pathway 2 after achieving ACLIP and I agree I too feel a
little isolated. I'm a solo librarian so I miss day to day contact with
other librarians but I try to network with librarians in our county
libraries whenever possible and have arranged my own visits to different
types of libraries. I find this helps particularly as my mentor is not
local and I usually come away feeling a lot more motivated just for
having talked with another librarian. There don't seem to be many events
happening in Cornwall and it is difficult for me to attend ones further
away due to work commitments and cost. Visiting other libraries has
definitely been a big help to me particularly in picking up new ideas
which I've then used in my own library. I am also taking longer than the
2 years as I just haven't felt ready to submit yet. I spoke to CILIP and
they said there was no problem with this so don't feel pressured that
you have to keep to this timescale.

Is anyone else out there doing things the non-MA / PGdip route ? Has
anyone
succeeded ? Do you get the impression that I'm feeling a little
isolated?
Seriously it would be very helpful to hear of and read others'
experiences and
efforts in getting MCLIP this way.
