I would have thought you'd also have problems if the person went up a hill/kerbs(?), so you could only use the chair on the flat. Interesting idea though - did you want to use the tilt switches on the client's head?
Cheers
Simon

Hi,
As I understand it the Magitek is a proportional wheelchair control. It was being supplied by Smile Rehab 01635 37550 and it was very expensive.
With regard to tilt switches, the on/off variety, I have personally had very mixed results. They are difficult to set up, particularly on a persons head ( it is very hard to get a consistent switching point from day to day or even minute to minute ) and suffer from a frustrating amount of switch bounce. Also because there is no feedback on the switch people tend to use excessive movements. If switch operations are frequent, say for a communication aid, this may not be advisable.
QED and Tash do Tilt switches.
One of our Clinical Scientist Trainee's developed an accelerometer based tilt sensor for measuring wheelchair seat tilt over a period of time.

Happy Christmas to all!
I'm looking for info about tilt switches. Has anyone used tilt switches/sensors in a powered chair set-up? Online search has produced a couple of papers and a product from Magitek...........
Thanks in anticipation
Margaret
