Hi all,
After seeing some unexpected blank pixels in one of my output cubes, I
discovered that the default value for makecube's BADMASK parameter is
actually 'OR', in contradiction to the logical choice explained in the
text of the documentation, which reads (smurfhelp makecube param
badmask):
"""
A string determining the way in which bad pixels are propagated from
input to output. "AND" should usually be used [...]
"""
I've been using makecube extensively, and have always tacitly assumed
that if a certain part of one input file is masked (using e.g.
ardmask), that mask only applies to that specific input files, and is
not propagated to all other input files for the current call to
makecube. Now that I found that 'OR' is the default value for the
BADMASK parameter, this may turn out to be wrong.
Of course I can easily fix this by adding "BADMASK='AND'" to all my
makecube calls, but I would like to discuss here what the developers
think that the default value for BADMASK _should_ be.
Cheers,
Matthijs
