you could do a multiple regression where you enter two regressors for
disease duration - one being the actual duration of disease for each
subject and the other one the exponential version (load the regressor
disease in the matlab window and then type in spm exp(regressor name))
-- add other regressors which are possible confounds such as such as
subjects' age (possibly actual age detrended and the square of it) and
total grey matter volume.
