communications consultancy. You will support a team focused on PR within 
marketing and corporate communications for “life science tools, technologies 
and services”. You must understand the laboratory research environment, 
preferably a life sciences graduate with relevant work experience. Excellent

Account Executive - Life Sciences (London)

consultants bring to our clients the strategic advice and implementation 
needed in times of change - such as transactions or crises - as well as in the

communications services including corporate communications, marketing 
communications, healthcare communications and financial communications.

The Role

As an Account Executive you are expected to provide a comprehensive 
support service to our account teams. In order to do this, you will need to 
develop knowledge of our Life Sciences clients and specifically of 
clients/projects assigned directly or indirectly to you. You will also need to 
develop a thorough understanding of the services we offer, our practices and 
procedures. You are required to follow these procedures accurately and 
effectively at all times and, wherever appropriate, seek to improve these 
procedures by proposing changes. Above all, your role is to increase the 
effectiveness of the account teams by employing excellent organisational skills 
and initiative.

Main Duties and Responsibilities: focus on marketing and corporate 
communications
•	Provide team support across a portfolio of clients
•	Proactively assist with PR and advertising scheduling (timing, topics 
etc.) through liaison with journals and knowledge of client's products and 
services
•	Compile and maintain exhibition/event/meeting calendar of relevance 
to our clients
•	Maintain clients’ PR schedules and produce monthly activity reports
•	Help write press releases and other materials as required
•	Identify and secure PR placements
•	Build relationships with journalists by liaising on a regular basis to 
keep up to date on scheduled topics, editorial opportunities, front covers and 
advertising deals
•	Proof read materials as required
•	Be responsible for e-mail despatch of press releases and actively 
follow up with journalists
•	Ensure timely arrival of materials to journals/media
•	Scan journals and other sources for prospects, client's PR, placed 
adverts, articles and other useful information
•	Support PR programme development through research – for clients 
and prospects
•	Maintain PR database contacts 
•	Provide professional office based support for clients that call in
•	Provide minutes and other documents necessary for the support of 
ongoing client relations
•	Capture costs necessary to the accurate preparation of client 
invoices
•	Other tasks and projects as required

Personal Specification
•	Life sciences/bio-sciences graduate essential

•	Relevant work experience preferred in either PR, marketing or 
scientific communications.

•	Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and 
written).  Writing skills may be tested at interview stage.

•	An ability to multi-task and manage time effectively. Needs to be 
able to organise workload in order to meet strict deadlines.  Excellent 
attention to detail.  Must be able to work effectively in pressured situations.

•	Strong organisation skills and planning ability. 

•	Good analytical skills, able to sift and analyse data objectively and 
critically.

•	Proficient in Word, Powerpoint, Excel and Outlook.
