I couldn't agree more. I've seen the same thing in e-democracy, working on I'm a Councillor. It's easy for people to get caught up in their own little project (we probably do the same thing!) and miss how they could make use of the simple resources that are already out there and that everyone is using.
For most people, if they are looking for a piece of video, YouTube will be the first place they will go. For many it will be the only place.
