ABOUT UMEÅ INSTITUTE OF DESIGN
Umeå Institute of Design at Umeå University, recently named Center of
Excellence in Higher Education 2008, is one of Sweden's few design
education environments with post-graduate studies in industrial
design. Umeå Institute of Design is also a strong player in the
formation of the new Umeå Arts Campus at Umeå University.
Umeå Institute of Design now establishes itself as a leading player in
design research and is now making a strategic investment in basic
research in the design field. As part of building a strong research
environment where fundamental questions about design meet the
surrounding society's need for knowledge we are launching a number of
new PhD positions.
ABOUT THE POSITIONS, ASSOCIATED FUNDING AND START DATE
These positions are fully funded with doctoral studenships provided by
the institution. The financial support includes employment by the
University for the duration of the studies (4-5 years) and associated
social benefits. The position (doktorandtjanst), incremental increases
in salary will occur according to a stipulated scale. The position may
require teaching (up to 20%), which will lengthen the overall duration
