Middle Fell Mine (1880s-90s)(barytes/iron ore). There were a number of
small lead and barytes mines in the Barrass-North Stainmore area and some
collieries:-
Cabbish or North Stainmore Mine (NY 8376.1553) mainly produced barytes and
some lead.
Augill or North Westmorland Mine (NY 8218.1563)
Bugle Hill, Kirkby Stephen (London Lead Co 1870's) – No idea, unless it
should be Bayle.
Bayle Hill, Kirkby Stephen (Pease 1866-1871). Bale Hill at NY 7769.1568
near Brough.
Mallerstang Mine (London Lead Co). There are a number of small lead
mines/trials (plus some coal pits) in Mallerstang (a largish area). The
largest area of workings was at Bells or Belds Hill – NY 7864.0431
