Dear Mandie,
Thank you for taking the time to reply and forwarding the information regarding Sarah Wickham's doctorate. I am keen to get in touch with Mavis Kirkham, do you have her email address?
Thanks again
Sandra Ebanks.

Dear Sandra,
That sounds very interesting! I have only heard of that being done
around the Christmas period, where strict protocols seem to enjoy a
festive break! You probably already know this but Sarah Wickham's
doctorate was on 'prolonged pregnancy' (or something such) and
practice surrounding it - I think her supervisor might have been Mavis
Kirkham but I could be wrong on that one. Unfortunately her doctorate
is locked to protect the participants, however, the very fact that she
thought this was a necessary step to take, I would think, suggests
that she found a lot of liberal practice around IOL. I would suggest
she or Mavis might be a very interesting people to talk to!
Good luck with that, I shall enjoy reading the discussion your point
raises; thanks for brining it up.
Regards
Mandie Scamell
