Guessing that you might have listened to the panel I was in, its my pleasure to send you herewith the program of Temps d’images-festival starting on January 7th.
Amongst other interesting performances and tryouts, there is also Fabien Prioville (on 14th) with the piece I showed some excerpts from during the panel.
For those understanding german, it might be interesting to join the conference on “framing art” (15th).
In case you wanna come over (Duesseldorf airport but also Cologne airport with some cheap airlines are very close to us with good train connection), please let me know as soon as possible, since for hotels it’s a bit difficult for certain nights.
Best wishes and a happy new year

Jan Machacek&Anna Mendelssohn ( Austria ) “outside I” German Premiere
Isabella Soupart ( Belgium ) “COLLISION(S)” German Premiere
In “outside i” media artist Jan Machacek and actress Anna Mendelssohn from Vienna stage a media performance where the contrary relations between the inner and the outer view, dissociation and merger or solo and duo performance are examined.
Belgian artist Isabella Soupart goes way beyond all categories and genres by combining theatre, dance, media art and installation. In her latest work she weaves associative structures of storytelling motives that centre round the aspect of collision.
Ilona Pászthy (D)
08.01., 20 h + 09.01., 21 h
Ilona Pászthy ( Germany ) „einszwei...“
„einszwei“ is an installation about modern structures of communication for two dancers, each performing on opposite sides of the stage. On one dancer Emily Welther lolls on a flokati, on the other the dancer Olaf Reinecke. A surveillance camera transmits what is happening to the other side, but the dancers never meet, a reflection on the changed parameters of finding a partner and patterns of relation in the age of internet communications. The visitors can move around between both sides and chose their own point of view.
Pierre Rigal/Compagnie Dernière Minute (F)
09.01., 20 h
Pierre Rigal (France) “érection”
A dancer lies on the floor in a green square of light. His organic and well structured movements, lying, getting up, bending and falling show the long way that the title suggests. “érection” is a fascinating solo playing with associations of the evolutionary development of the homo erectus, philosophical reflections and future vision about the human body. The boundaries between stage and performer are blurred, the relation of sound, movement and light are explored in a new way.
Orthographe (I)
13.01., 18/19/20 h + 14.+15.01., 18/19/21 h
Orthographe (Italy) “Tentativi di Volo” – Performance Installation (30 min.)
„Attempts to fly“ is the translated title of this installation. A small group of spectators enters a room and finds itself in an optical chamber that works like a „laterna magica“ turned around. Here images are projected into the room from outside. The guests move around in a magical atmosphere like sleepwalkers in a dream which seems to be inspired by the phantasmagorias of Francisco de Goya.
Fabien Prioville (F/D)
14.01., 20 h
Fabien Prioville (France/Germany) “Jailbreak Mind”
In his first full length solo piece Fabien Prioville, former dancer with Pina Bausch and La La La Human Steps explores the world of a young Japanese who ran amok and killed a group of people with a sword. Prioville incorporates the effect that violent video games like “Grand Theft Auto” can have on the mind triggering illusions of grandeur and even the will to kill. Far from passing a moral judgement Prioville stages suggestive images of great intensity.
Leandro Kees & Florian Mattil (ARG/D)
13.-15.01., 17-20 h
Pipo Tafel/Taro Gragnato/Daniel Berwanger “The Box of Peter Pan” - Chantier
Playing with your own shadow. Cameras react to movements and a special software adapts an animated shadow projection of the movements of the visitor. The software is able to create an array of movements.
In the so called “chantiers”, meaning something like „artistic building site“, artist of different genres come together.
Richard Siegal & Frédéric Bevilacqua (F/D)
14.01., 21 h + 16.01., 19 h
Leandro Kees, Florian Mattial & Johannes Schmidt (Argentina/Germany)
“Las Tres Partes – The End” - Chantier
Choreographer Leandro Kees and composer Florian Mattil have researched the theatrical effects of light. Their starting point is the phenomenon knows as afterimage. Even if an object is darkened or taken away, for a fraction of seconds the eye seems to be able to receive an image. “The End” plays with the possibilities of speed, light and shadow.

Mylène Benoit & Olivier Normand/Compagnie Contour Progressif (F)
15.+16.01., 20 h
Mylène Benoit&Olivier Normand (France) “ICI” - Prepremiere
„ICI“ is concerned with the interface of video and choreography. Starting from the children´s game „chinese whispers“ and the surrealist play with coincidence, „Cadavre Equis“, Mylène Benoit and Olivier Normand explore the relation of the body to its image and identity. By combining live-video, delayed replay in a mirror and its copy by the other dancer on stage a confusing plot as to the construction of reality emerges.
Compagnie Nicole Seiler (CH)
16.01., 21 h
Compagnie Nicole Seiler ( Switzerland ) “Ningyo” – German Premiere
The choreographer and video artist Nicole Seiler is fascinated by the myth of the mermaid, between attraction and disgust, between beauty and monstrosity. In her latest work she returns to the theme of the construction of female ideals of beauty. Following the traces of the aquatic double-creature the solo dancer YoungSoon Cho Jaquet multiplies herself through video projections that become mirrors of her own movements. DJ Letizia Renzini provides live music between tender electronics and big beats.
