Call for Papers: Celebrating Women's Writing
Saturday, 19th June 2010
Lucy Cavendish College, Cambridge
This one-day conference celebrates the journal Women's Writing
(http://www.tandf.co.uk/journals/womenswriting) which is devoted to the
work of women writers before the First World War. The conference will
serve as a retrospective and review of scholarship on women's writing
over nearly forty years of criticism, from Janet Todd's founding of the
first journal to concentrate on the topic: Women and Literature. There
will be an opportunity in the conference to reflect upon the distance we
have travelled in these decades, on our present condition and on
directions for the future.
The conference will address women's writing before 1914 in literary,
cultural, historical, or ideological formations.
'Celebrating Women's Writing' is jointly organised by Lucy Cavendish
College, Cambridge, and the University of the West of England, Gender
Research Studies Group, Bristol and is supported by Routledge journals.
It will form part of the annual Woman's Word at Lucy Cavendish festival.
