Managing digital projects can be a daunting task. This one day course aims to demystify digital project management and will provide delegates with skills and knowledge to effectively manage their digital projects.
During the day delegates will look at vital project management skills in the context of a digital project, looking at the specific tools and knowledge needed to undertake a digital project. You will learn about the facets that need to be considered; how to cost and budget a digital project; how to raise funds; effective planning techniques; digital project risk management; and what checks and balances are needed to ensure success. The day will consist of a mixture of presentations, facilitated discussion, and group exercises so delegates will leave with an greater knowledge about the management tools associated with digital projects.
The day will include sessions on:
· Planning for digital projects
· The fundamentals of project management
· Risk management
· Fundraising - transforming plans into costed proposals for raising funds and how to work with funding bodies to get what you both want
· Budgeting for digital projects
· Best practice examples from the cultural heritage sector
Delegates will leave the day:
· Knowing how to plan and manage digital projects
· How to set and manage digital project budgets
· With knowledge of how to develop fundraising strategies for digital projects
· With the tools and means to effectively manage digital projects
The day will be led by Simon Tanner of King's Digital Consultancy Services at King's College London. Simon is a leading thinker and consultant in how the digital domain relates to library, museum and archiving digital strategies.
