Subject: Process mineralogy workshop at Camborne School of Mines
Dear all.
Allow me to draw your attention to the following workshop sponsored by the
SEG, IMA-COM and the Applied Mineralogy Group of the Mineralogical Society.
Feel free to distribute the information to colleagues or contacts that may
not be on the geo-mineralisation or mag_sul distribution lists.

Process mineralogy of metalliferous ores: An introduction for geologists
A workshop hosted by Camborne School of Mines, University of Exeter,
Cornwall Campus, United Kingdom.
The workshop is limited to 25 delegates.
22nd - 25th June 2010
This workshop aims to give an introduction to process mineralogy of
metalliferous ores. It will provide experience of common mineral processing
techniques, and demonstrate, through examples, how mineralogical analysis,
using QEMSCAN and other techniques, is used to optimize mineral processing
operations. An excursion will focus on the geology and past mining
operations in Cornwall.
The workshop is targeted at junior geologists and postgraduate geology
students that work or interact with mineral processing operations.
Conveners: Jens Andersen, Rob Fairhurst, Richard Pascoe, Gavyn Rollinson
Camborne School of Mines, University of Exeter
Guest Speakers: Maria Boni, Universitą di Napoli
Richard Herrington, Natural History Museum, London
Registration fee £ 250* (includes workshop, excursion, lunches and
refreshments but excludes accommodation, evening meals, and travel)
* Delegates from developing countries can apply for a 50% discount on the
registration fee, and a further £ 125 contribution to their expenses payable
at the end of the workshop.
Programme and registration information will be posted shortly after the New
Year on the Mineralogical Society (Applied Mineralogy Group) webpages:

______________________________________________________________
It may be of interest to potential delegates, that the workshop follows
shortly after the MEI Nickel Processing '10 meeting, which is held in
Falmouth, about 3 miles from Camborne School of Mines. The week following
the workshop provides an opportunity to participate in the Applied
Mineralogy Group's 5 day Field Excursion to Cornwall (28 June - 3 June 2010)
organised by Prof. Peter Scott.
With this, I like to wish you all the very best for a merry Christmas.
