fslchfiletype -h should help...
A bit of shell scripting as well: http://fsl.fmrib.ox.ac.uk/fslcourse/lectures/scripting/
Anyhoo:
for g in *.nii.gz; do
fslchfiletype NIFTI $g
done
But I'm really not sure why you would need to change the file type to uncompressed nifti...
