POSTDOCTORAL POSITION IN PROTEIN CRYSTALLOGRAPHY
A postdoctoral position is available in the Protein Structure Group at
the University of New South Wales, Sydney, Australia. The focus of the
project is the TGF-beta superfamily cytokine, MIC-1 (Johnen et al., Nat
Med. 2007 13:1333-40). This is part of an integrated research program in
collaboration with the Centre for Applied Medical Research at St
Vincent’s Hospital Sydney, where MIC-1 was discovered. The candidate
should have a strong background in protein crystallography with skills
in molecular biology, protein chemistry and molecular modelling desirable.
The postdoc will be based at UNSW where we have in house facilities for
molecular biology, protein expression, purification and
characterisation. We have a robotic crystallisation suite comprising a
Hamilton Starlet 8 channel fluid handling system, a Phoenix nanodrop
crystallisation robot and a CrystalPro HT110 visualisation system with
100 plate hotel. Data collection facilities include a Rigaku MicroMax007
rotating anode generator equipped with a MAR34 detector, Osmic mirrors
and Oxford cryo system. We have regular access to synchrotron sources.
The position is funded for three years.
