I stand duly (and pleasantly) corrected... As you say, evidence of a
successful bit of email management!
Last I had heard about this was that a meeting of the group behind the
list in question had vetoed any attempts to manage postings and I
certainly continued to receive some that did not adopt the prefix idea
after that meeting. As messages of this type are rather sporadic in
nature anyway I had just assumed this was a natural lull before the next
batch.
Like all conventions it will inevitably be observed by some and
overlooked (or inadvertently forgotten) by others - but if it saves just
a few emails each week then I'll chalk it up as a minor victory, as well
as restoring my (only temporarily dented) faith in our profession! :-)
