** CRESC PhD Studentship 2010-2012
The ESRC Centre for Research on Socio-Cultural Change (CRESC) intends to
fund a doctoral studentship for a period of three years from September 2010.
The student will be supervised by a team of 2 or 3 supervisors from amongst
the Manchester Research Associates and Directors (see the website for
further details). The successful student will be based at the Manchester
CRESC offices, and will be expected to spend up to six hours a week
supporting CRESC in an administrative and/or research capacity. The student
will benefit from working in a dedicated research environment where they can
liaise with numerous active researchers linked to CRESC themes.
One fully funded PhD studentships is currently available, covering the
standard home/EU fee for 2010/2011 entry plus an annual stipend of £13,290 ,
payable in four instalments, and £750 research training grant per annum.
The successful candidate will:
- Have an excellent undergraduate degree (minimum 2:1) in any of the
disciplinary areas which are involved in CRESC (Business Studies, Social
Anthropology, Sociology, Women’s Studies)
- Have completed a research training Masters (with a minimum overall average
of 60%) in concordance with the expectations of the ESRC
- Have interests in any of the six CRESC themes (see www.cresc.ac.uk for
details)
It is also hoped that candidates will:
- Study a topic of interdisciplinary significance involving an
interdisciplinary supervisory team
- Have both methodological and theoretical interests in CRESC research
beyond their specific research topics.
