Subject: Re: Equality and Diversity Committe membership
Hi Anne
Below are our E&D Committee terms of reference. These desperately need review and update - please come back to me if you wish to circulate them so I can get permission. In the interim I attach a document I prepared when we set up a specific sub group (Equality Working Party) just after I started if either help. We have had very low academic representation especially on the E&D Committee although slowly slowly we are finding E&D Champions to join us from within the woodwork.
I will come back to you on disability data - just working on it now !
Kate

Subject: Equality and Diversity Committe membership
Morning all,
We are reviewing our terms of reference for our Equality and Diversity Committee and in particular our membership. We’ve had turnover in staff reps and low response to ballots when electing staff reps, particularly in the academic areas. Some feedback has suggested that the role and purpose of the Committee is perhaps not clear.
We are keen to hear from smaller institutions regarding staff engagement and E&D Committee membership and would be grateful if you would share terms of reference. Our aim is to make the work of the Committee attractive and relevant to all staff in the College and not let it be seen as an HR Committee.
Any help will be much appreciated!
Thanks
Anne
