This is a frustrating one. We have tried various things over the years the last one being a product by IBM but this ended in failure. If there isn't a broker supplied with the software, anything we have tried has proved to be unreliable in the long term.
The IBM product we looked at appeared to have lots of features we liked but there was a heavy load keeping the database up to date as versions of executables changed with minor updates and so forth.

We've been wanting something like that for years but never found it!
A number of other packages come with their own stuff these days (inc
SPSS) but usually it's their own stuff rather than a common standard
like Flex. (or at least what Flex used to be like - we've seen things
which only work with the windows version of Flex.)
