Dealing with difficult students and situations-Dr Siobhan MacAndrew, University of Abertay, Dundee: 'That's why they are called lessons – because they lessen everyday' (Lewis Caroll) In this session will discuss sticky situations we have all experienced and come to some best practice conclusions on how to deal with 'difficult' students of various types.
The transition from 'student' to 'teacher' - the first five things I learned-Dr Leslie Jessiman , University of the West of Scotland: When you start to teach you discover that everyone around you, both students and staff, assume you already know everything. This discussion centres around my experience of those first few months and the lessons I learned during that crucial time.
Getting your work published-Professor Mark Bennett - University of Dundee: This session will review the process of publishing papers in peer-reviewed journals, covering matters such as preparation of the manuscript and evaluation criteria employed by editors and reviewers.
