Dear Members of LCMRS,
Season's Greetings from the Liverpool Centre for Medieval and Renaissance
Studies!
I very much hope to see you all in the New Year. A prime opportunity to meet
up will be the first LCMRS ANNUAL PUBLIC LECTURE on Tuesday, 23 February
2010. Helen Cooper will speak on 'Shakespeare's Canterbury Tales: The Case
of A Midsummer Night's Dream'. Time: 5:30pm. Venue: The Leggate Theatre,
Victoria Galleries and Museum, Brownlow Hill, Liverpool.
Helen Cooper is Professor of Medieval and Renaissance English at the
University of Cambridge (holder of the chair originally established for C.S.
Lewis). She has been editor for Old and Middle English for Medium Aevum for
several years. Her books include 'Pastoral: Medieval into Renaissance'; 'The
Structure of the Canterbury Tales'; 'Oxford Guides to Chaucer: The Canterbury
Tales'; 'The English Romance in Time: Transforming Motifs from Geoffrey of
Monmouth to the Death of Shakespeare', and 'Shakespeare and the Medieval
World' (forthcoming 2010 for the Arden Companions to Shakespeare).
Allow me to take this opportunity to offer you my sincere thanks for your
support and encouragement during the past year.
With all best wishes,
Harald E Braun, Director
