Finding a NEET Solution; Re-engaging Young People Not in Employment, Education or Training
Timing: 10th March 2010
Guest of Honour: Oliver Newton, NEET Policy Manager, Participation and Progression Division, Department for Children, Schools and Families

This timely seminar will examine the Government’s progress towards meeting its target of reducing the percentage of NEETs by 2% by 2010. As the recessionary period takes hold and the percentage of young people out of school and work continues to rise, panels will examine what gives rise to young people becoming NEETs, the relevance of the education system to young people and the impact and consequences of raising the school leaving age. Furthermore, the seminar will also consider the Government’s response to the recent rise in NEETs, including the recently launched ‘Backing Young Britain’ campaign, as well as the accessibility of apprenticeships and other work opportunities.
