Glad to see such a lively discussion on this topic.

Could I suggest that contributors might like to archive this on our wiki?

http://pdpandeportfoliouk.wetpaint.com/

I've set up a dedicated page and if anyone needs an account just let me know (the wiki is 'closed' but if the general feeling was that it should be made publically accessible then I can do this).

Anyone wants to become an Administrator and be able to create their own pages, as well as add to them, let me know that too.

All the best,

Tracey

Dear all

For the last two years we have been using the e-portfolio tool in Expo LX from Learning Objects which plugs in to Blackboard.

However despite strong promotion, take-up has only been significant where staff have linked it with curriculum or tutorial support activities. In one or two programmes there has been really positive and creative use BA Marketing & Entrepreneurship, BA Dance. However feedback from students from other larger programmes (OT and other professional health) has not been very enthusiastic, possibly because not all their tutors have engaged with its potential. Efforts are being made to address this this year.

The feeling from those staff who are keen to exploit the full potential of e-portfolios is that this is a fairly basic tool with limited functionality. We are therefore likely to explore other options in the next year.

See some of you next week!

Has anyone else been using Expo as a vehicle for e-portfolios? We have been using this successfully this year. It is embedded into Blackboard and students can use it to develop their own Blogs and Wikis - they love it.

BB is terrible for ePortfolios. Have used it for the past 2 years and many students choose to build their portfolio outside BB. It is clunky, it formats pages the way it thinks they should be formatted etc. and most of the students feel it is inadequate. That's my two penneth!

Hello ladies

I use Blackboard currently, but not sure I can share any good practice,

as I am still experimenting, however would be interested in whether you

have used e-portfolios?

I won't be able to attend the Manchester conference but would be very

interested in seeing your resource if at all possible.

Thank you

Hello Carina

I'm days away from launching a resource for students through Blackboard

which I am demonstrating at the PDP conference in Manchester next week

if you are going? Might also be able to help with a short term demo

account if you would like.

Subject: Using Blackboard for PDP

Hi everyone,

Portsmouth is currently looking into a revamp of the ways in which PDP

is offered to students and supported throughout the university. At

present we are pretty much locked into using WebCT Vista but in order to

make the most of what we do have and capitalise on this opportunity to

change the way it works, I was wondering if anyone is using

(successfully if possible, but not exclusively) Blackboard for PDP. I

would be very interested to hear what works, what doesn't, what you've

added or taken away and how staff are supported in its use. Also, if

there would be any possibility of having access to a demo account then

that would be very helpful indeed.

Thanks very much for your help,

Carina
