Dear Della,
Sounds like a very sensible idea and thank you for sharing your experience. The” wave of clinical pathways Europe”
has crossed the Channel and getting into Europe too- and plans are being discussed over here.
Although I feel well with guidelines (for reasons of patient safety), I am quite concerned about
framing women’s care during pregnancy and childbirth by checklists and pathways.

Betreff: Re: care plans
At the Royal Women's in Melbourne we are getting rid of care plans in
light of the lack of evidence, the fact that a statewide review found
extremely poor care plans very widespread, the repetition and
duplication issues etc. They seem to decrease the opportunity for
individualised care rather than enhance it. We will be replacing them
with education plans which are guided by women with the input of
midwives

Subject: care plans
Hi, does anyone have templates for postnatal 'care plans' they are
willing to share? Joanne
