We do a masters in midwifery by distance learning at Thames Valley
University, London.
Students can usually commence in either February or October, and they
have a choice from a range of modules. Students receive a learning pack
by post, but we use a virtual learning system for students to interact
and discuss issues, and each also has a personal tutor, who keeps in
touch by telephone, email or skype. There are also some taught modules,
but these are all optional ones.
We have also now negotiated with our university that overseas students
should pay the same rate as home and EU students, since they are not
on-site.
The course is evaluated well by students and some have gone on to
publish their work, to complete PhD studies and to leadership positions
in midwifery.
