Dear colleagues,
I would like to draw attention to the following contract opportunity, which has just been published at https://www.bfi.org.uk/about/procurement under 'Current Tenders':
The BFI has embarked on a major programme of work called Screen Heritage UK. This is a £25 million investment in UK screen heritage, delivered through three main programme strands. One strand is to secure the national collection by building new film stores and implementing a new, unified Collections Management System for the BFI National Archive. The Archive was established in 1935 and is among the world's largest collections of screen heritage, with some 60,000 fiction films, 120,000 non fiction films and over 700,000 television programmes - well over half a million hours of material.
A new Collections Management System is required to replace the current holdings database and archive management system, Technical Records, which is no longer fit for purpose. It is one of the BFI's most critical business systems, holding over 800,000 records and used by over 80 staff each day.
Please pass this information on to any interest parties.
Many thanks.
