I always wonder, if the question of "What Content?" is sufficiently discussed before deciding which content management system is to be used.
Some CMS are better than others at organising illustrated articles, and some are better at organising images, metadata and associated interpretations.
Is your end result visualised as page based storytelling? or as node based search and discovery? One author writing all the content, or multiple authors contributing different views? is there anything particularly key to the presentation of your content?
Working around the issue of what content you have and how best to present it will make deciding which CMS to engage with a little easier.
While most common CMS frameworks can be adapted to any form of presentation, they do have an initial approach to content that does make a difference. Massaging a blog orientated CMS into a page based presentation is more work than starting with a page based system in the first place.
just my 2p.
