italian-studies: Scholarly discussions in any field of Italian studies
Dear Colleagues,
For an undergraduate course I teach on Renaissance art theory I have
been hunting for English translations of any parts of the Genealogia deorum
of Bocaccio (apart from Books XIV and XV, for which I use Osgood's
translation). I am aware that Book XI was translated by Melanie Hoover as
an MA thesis (University of Florida, 1985), but so far I have not been able
to obtain the ms via Interlibrary Loan. There is an English translation of
the text on Vulcan, published in a deluxe small-press edition in 1999
(Lock's Prress, Kingston, Ontario), but I have not found a copy I could
borrow.
I would be very grateful for any advice as to where I could find good
translations of any chapters between I and XIII.
With best wishes, Tom Willette
