The School of Modern Languages invites applicants from all fields of German
scholarship for this key professorial appointment. The overriding criterion
for appointment to the Chair will be the candidate's ability to provide
strong academic leadership in the subject and the School, in both research
and teaching. The University of Bristol is a leading research-intensive

The successful candidate will have established an international reputation
in research and publication and will show the potential to maintain and
